‘Violent Protests’ Over China's Pollution

BEIJING-On Thursday about 500 protesters gathered in the streets of Haining city, Zhejiang province adamant for explanations on the death of a large numbers of fish in a river nearby, according to Xinhua news agency.

Apparently these protests have been going on for three days now. The residents are accusing a solar panel factory in eastern China of cancer-causing pollution, reported by state media today.

There are at least 31 cases of cancer, including 6 with leukemia amongst residents of Hongxiao village, a part of Haining which industrial contamination is believe to have caused.

It is stated that demonstrators broke into the Jinko Solar factory ransacking offices and turning over vehicles before being forced back by police. The violence still continues..
